Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer focused on CDN, edge delivery, web performance, and reliability for a high-traffic, public-facing enterprise web platform. The role operates in a regulated enterprise environment and focuses on ensuring availability, performance, resilience, observability, secure delivery, and operational readiness across the modern web delivery stack.

This is a reliability engineering role centered on CDN and edge platforms, web performance, production incident management, release reliability, resilience, and third-party integrations. The role partners closely with engineering, production support, security, network/CDN teams, and technology vendors.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and support high-traffic public-facing websites delivered through an enterprise CDN and edge platform.

• Monitor and troubleshoot CDN/edge behavior, DNS, certificates, caching, cache invalidation, WAF, bot management, and third-party integrations.

• Build and maintain external synthetic monitoring, automated smoke tests, dependency checks, and production observability.

• Establish and operate reliability practices around SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, RUM, CDN logs, SIEM data, and Core Web Vitals.

• Lead or support customer-facing production incidents, senior escalations, root-cause analysis, post-incident reviews, and continuous reliability improvements.

• Support Git-based production release processes, CI/CD controls, branch protection, automated checks, performance validation, secret scanning, rollback, revert, republish, and cache purge procedures.

• Develop and maintain configuration as code and infrastructure-as-code practices for CDN and edge configurations.

• Define and exercise recovery procedures for content sources, Git repositories, CDN configuration, edge configuration, certificates, WAF policies, and other critical delivery components.

• Support business continuity, disaster recovery, RTO/RPO planning, resilience exercises, and failure scenario testing.

• Analyze web performance regressions, browser rendering, network behavior, page-load performance, waterfall data, third-party scripts, tags, and APIs.

• Partner with vendors and internal teams on production escalations, SLA/OLA tracking, operational readiness, and technology risk.

• Maintain runbooks, incident playbooks, release controls, audit evidence, access controls, and operational documentation.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Strong hands-on experience operating high-traffic, public-facing websites behind an enterprise CDN.

• Deep expertise in CDN configuration and edge delivery, including origin behavior, caching, cache invalidation, edge logic, TLS/SSL, DNS, and traffic routing.

• Practical production experience with Web Application Firewalls, including rule management, tuning, false-positive analysis, and enforcement.

• Experience with bot management and protecting web applications while allowing legitimate crawlers and business-critical traffic.

• Strong observability experience using logs, metrics, RUM, synthetic monitoring, SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets.

• Strong web performance engineering experience, including Core Web Vitals, browser rendering, network behavior, page-load performance, and waterfall analysis.

• Working knowledge of JavaScript and CSS for troubleshooting modern public-facing web applications.

• Strong Git-based release engineering and CI/CD experience in production environments.

• Hands-on Infrastructure as Code or Configuration as Code experience.

• Proven production incident management, root-cause analysis, and post-incident review experience.

• Experience working within enterprise change management, audit, access control, compliance, and third-party risk requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Hands-on experience with Akamai and/or Cloudflare.

• Experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), Edge Delivery Services, or similar vendor-managed web delivery platforms.

• Experience in financial services or another highly regulated enterprise environment.

• Experience with Python, Java, or JavaScript-based automation.

• Experience developing automated runbooks and operational tooling.

• Familiarity with accessibility, SEO, multilingual web delivery, and enterprise content platforms.

• Experience supporting vendor-managed SaaS platforms and third-party technology controls.
