The Parliamentary Service Commission is established under Article 127 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 to among others provide services and facilities to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of Parliament. Article 127 of the Constitution provides that the Parliamentary Service Commission shall consist of, among others, one man and one woman appointed by Parliament from among persons who are experienced in public affairs, but are not members of Parliament. The Secretary to the Commission now invites applications for one (1) vacant position for a female Member of the Parliamentary Service Commission under Article 127(2)(d) of the Constitution. The vacancy is to be filled by Parliament as provided for under Article 127(2)(d) of the Constitution. Please note that there is currently no vacancy for the one man Commissioner under Article 127(2)(d) of the Constitution. Therefore, only qualified female candidates are invited to apply. A person is qualified to be appointed a member of the Parliamentary Service Commission under Article 127(2)(d) if: the person is not a Member of Parliament; the person is a citizen of Kenya; holds a degree from a university recognized in Kenya; has at least ten years’ experience in public affairs; and meets the requirements of leadership and integrity set out in chapter 6 of the Constitution.
