The Investment Officer administers investment portfolios by processing, reconciling and monitoring transactions, maintaining accurate portfolio records, supporting financial and regulatory reporting, ensuring compliance, resolving operational exceptions and delivering efficient client service.

JOB OVERVIEW:

The Investment Officer is responsible for providing investment administration, operational control and portfolio support services for investment portfolios managed by Guardian Asset Management Investment Services Limited (GAMISL). The role ensures accurate processing, validation, settlement, reconciliation, monitoring and reporting of investment transactions while maintaining the integrity of portfolio records and supporting compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements and industry standards.

The incumbent contributes to the efficient administration GAMISL investment portfolios by maintaining accurate investment records, supporting financial and regulatory reporting, performing reconciliations,

investigating operational exceptions, preparing management information, and assisting with portfolio analysis. The role also supports continuous improvement initiatives by supporting regulatory compliance, operational controls, and client servicing requirements, by contributing to the delivery of high-quality service to both internal and external stakeholders.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • 1. Investment Portfolio Administration
  • Administer local and foreign investment portfolios in accordance with established policies and   procedures.
  • Process and monitor investment transactions, settlements, maturities, income receipts, and corporate actions.
  • Maintain complete, accurate and up-to-date investment records, supporting documentation and audit trails.
  • 2. Reconciliation, Monitoring & Operational Control
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations of investment accounts and portfolio records.
  • Investigate, analyse and resolve reconciliation differences, pricing variances and operational exceptions within established service standards.

⦁ Identify and escalate unusual transactions, control weaknesses and operational risks to the Team Leader.

  • Ensure adherence to established operational controls and procedures.
  • 3. Financial Reporting & Regulatory Support
  • Prepare reports supporting portfolio valuation, management reporting, regulatory submissions, and financial reporting requirements.
  • Assist with audits and information requests from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support compliance with applicable regulatory and reporting requirements.
  • Prepare supporting information for internal, external and regulatory audits and respond promptly to audit enquiries.
  • 4. Investment Analysis & Management Information
  • Prepare portfolio analysis, investment schedules, and management information reports.
  • Assist with monitoring portfolio performance and investment activity.
  • Provide analytical support for business and operational decision-making.
  • 5. Continuous Improvement & Operational Support
  • Participate in projects and initiatives aimed at improving operational efficiency and service delivery.
  • Support implementation of process enhancements and system improvements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or related field
  • 2-3 years experience in financial services

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT:

As a regulated entity with obligations under the Know Your Employee guidelines, a Certificate of Character is required.
