The Financial Analyst must be detail-oriented, organized and a collaborative team player. The incumbent must manage time and resources effectively, communicate clearly, maintain confidentiality, and consistently meet deadlines while delivering high-quality work.

JOB OVERVIEW:

The Financial Analyst position will be responsible for all audit requirements for Premium Accounting, being the main liaison between GLOC Finance and the external auditors for NCB and GLOC. The position works closely with GLOCs Bank Reconciliation Team for the Premium Accounting expectations.

The position will be responsible for the preparation of monthly billings from BPS to GLOC and GLL and monthly variance analysis required for BPS monthly Executive meetings. Additionally, he/ she is required to monitor and report on the budget variances for the BPS Management expenses monthly, giving recommendations to BPS Execs for budgetary purposes.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monthly Management Reporting
  • Prepare and clear, identified GL accounts as per the Group’s Reconciliation Policy.
  • Review and analyse monthly expenses/income (management reports) for the BPS Operations and provide proper explanations for variances +/- 5%.
  • Prepare and submit to GSSL Finance monthly billings for BPS Management Expenses.
  • Prepare and submit for monthly Executive reporting, month on month expense analysis for BPS charges.
  • Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual Money Transactions team, Management report.
  • 2. Process management
  • Run lapsed report as per schedule and address lapsed policies applicable for auto reinstatement.
  • Assist with month end activities within the team (application of first premiums, respond to queries, data entry)
  • Respond to escalated request/queries from finance/auditors.
  • Assist with testing of any new systems or changes to current systems.
  • Provide training and guidance to the team members as required.
  • 3. Audit, Journal & Bank Requests
  • Lead and manage the Premium Accounting aspect of all audits (internal and external; interim and year end).
  • Ensure all audit request received for the team, are accurately responded to within the given timeline.
  • Review and approve journals within the stipulated authorization limits.
  • 4. DISRUP (online portal) Finance Activities
  • Manage the finance DISRUP portfolio.
  • Be certain to track and analyse all sales and receipts
  • Provide information to Management for monthly reporting for submission by the 3WD each month.

5. To perform any other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or any related field from a recognized tertiary level institution.
  • 5 CXC/CSEC passes including English Language and Mathematics
  • LOMA 280, 290, ACS 100 and all related parts.
  • At least 3 years’ working experience in a similar position.
  • Experience in the Life Insurance industry is strongly preferred.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT:

As a regulated entity with obligations under the Know Your Employee guidelines, a Certificate of Character is required.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

The Financial Analyst, must be meticulous, attentive and a team player. He/she must be able to manage time and resources efficiently. He/she must possess the ability to perform their tasks with speed, accuracy, must be self-motivated and committed to delivery. He/she must demonstrate the ability to contribute to and assist with the team needs for improvements and with natural curiosity, work with the teams within GSSL Operations to ensure excellent customer service is provided.

The incumbent must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, must maintain confidentiality and be able to effectively schedule work and meet deadlines.

He/she must be proactive and therefore must have proper coordination within the team to ensure high levels of customer service to internal and externa customers at all times.

The Financial Analyst must be able to work effectively with the Manager to collaboratively deliver on activities under the teams’ purview.  He/she must be able to work in a fast-moving environment and manage deliverables both according to plans and ad hoc requests.
