CSSD SUPERVISOR

• Responsibilities

Supervise receipt, decontamination, inspection, packing, sterilisation and distribution of instruments and sets for the entire hospital

• Supervise, roster, orient, train and appraise CSSD staff and monitor performance
• Lead the Infection Control Link Nurse function and enforce IPC and health-and-safety standards

Ensure correct operation, loading, validation and monitoring of steam autoclaves, plasma sterilizers, ultrasonic washers and heat sealers

• Deliver in-service training in sterile services and occupational health and safety

Organise and lead clinical audits, hazard identification and risk management, and track corrective and preventive actions

• Maintain sterilisation records, load traceability and cycle documentation
• Requirements

Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Operating Department Practice or Sterile Services from a recognised institution

Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Botswana (for nurse postholders) with a valid practising certificate

• A recognised certificate in sterilisation / CSSD services (e.g. CSSD Foundation)
• Proven CSSD / sterile-services experience, including supervisory or lead experience
• Sound knowledge of decontamination, sterilisation, validation and instrument traceability
• Infection prevention and control leadership experience
• Demonstrable experience operating autoclaves, plasma sterilizers, ultrasonic washers and heat sealers
• Registered Nurse (NMCB) with CSSD and operating-theatre experience (desirable)
