Job Description
- Responsibilities
Ensure formulary items and departmental supplies are available for hospital use and source relevant alternatives where required
- Source new products and supplies for hospital use in consultation with the pharmacist and department heads
- Provide product information to healthcare professionals and build stakeholder relationships
Acquire, control and distribute stock and maintain sufficient levels; unpack and issue stock to wards and departments
- Rotate stock on a first-expiry-first-out basis and remove expired or damaged items
- Conduct regular stock counts across departmental stores and reconcile physical stock against system records
- Comply with legal, health and safety policies and maintain clean, secure stores
- Requirements
- Diploma in Pharmacy or a qualification in Stores/Supply-Chain Management from a recognised institution
Current registration with the Botswana Health Professions Council (BHPC), where the role dispenses or handles medicines
Experience in stock/inventory control, preferably in a pharmacy, medical-supplies or hospital stores environment
- Understanding of stock rotation and inventory principles
- Understanding of the local healthcare industry and key stakeholders (e.g. medical aids) (desirable)
- Familiarity with inventory-management systems (desirable)
