DIAGNOSTIC RADIOGRAPHER

• Responsibilities

Perform general diagnostic radiographs; position patients and select correct exposure factors for optimal images

• Apply radiation-protection principles for patients, staff and the public (ALARA)
• Monitor and order supplies to maintain proper stock levels

Perform computed tomography (CT) examinations (e.g. brain, abdomen, pelvis, spine) and ensure images load correctly to PACS

• Manage TLD / dosimetry monitoring and liaise with the radiation protection authority for readings
• Maintain accurate records and support PACS/RIS image management
• Perform general ultrasound examinations (abdomen, pelvis, obstetric/gynaecological, thyroid, testis)
• Requirements
• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Diagnostic Radiography from a recognised institution
• Current registration with the Botswana Health Professions Council (BHPC) as a radiographer, in good standing

Proven experience as a diagnostic radiographer across general X-ray and at least one advanced modality (CT or ultrasound)

• Sound knowledge of radiation protection, TLD dosimetry and imaging quality assurance / control
• PACS/RIS competence

Multi-modality competence across CT, ultrasound/sonography and fluoroscopy, and theatre C-arm experience (desirable)

• Head-of-department or departmental-supervision experience (desirable)
