The Australian Manufacturing Workers' Union (AMWU) is one of Australia's leading trade unions, representing workers across manufacturing, mining, engineering, food production, vehicle building and a range of other industries. The AMWU WA Branch is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Industrial Officer to join our team.
This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside members, delegates, organisers and officials to deliver outstanding industrial representation and help secure better outcomes for working people.
The successful applicant will provide industrial advice, represent members in disputes and negotiations, and prepare legal and industrial documentation.
THE MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS ROLE ARE:
- Provide high-quality industrial advice to members, delegates and organisers.
- Represent members in disciplinary matters, grievances and workplace disputes.
- Draft industrial correspondence, submissions, notices and other legal and industrial documents.
- Represent the union in proceedings before the Fair Work Commission and other relevant tribunals where appropriate.
- Interpret industrial legislation, enterprise agreements, awards and union rules.
- Support organisers and delegates in resolving industrial issues.
- Build strong relationships with workplace delegates and members.
- Maintain accurate records and case management files.
A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
Desirable / Useful:
- Experience working within the trade union movement.
- Experience appearing before the Fair Work Commission.
- Qualifications in Industrial Relations, Employment Law, Human Resources, Law or a related discipline.
