Job Description

JOB TITLE TRUCK DRIVER

NATURE OF JOB FULL TIME

INDUSTRY FOOD MANUFACTURING

SALARY KSHS.25,000-32,000

JOB LOCATION MLOLONGO

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Transportation & Delivery

· Safely transport bakery products, raw materials, and supplies to customers, distributors, and company branches.

· Ensure timely delivery of goods according to planned delivery schedules.

· Verify delivery quantities against invoices, delivery notes, and customer orders.

· Obtain proof of delivery through signed delivery notes and maintain accurate records.

· Handle products carefully to prevent damage during loading, transportation, and unloading.

Vehicle Operation & Maintenance

· Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.

· Ensure the assigned truck is clean, roadworthy, and properly maintained.

· Monitor fuel, oil, coolant, tire pressure, and other vehicle systems.

· Report mechanical faults, accidents, or maintenance requirements promptly.

· Coordinate routine servicing and repairs with the fleet or maintenance team.

Compliance & Road Safety

· Comply with all traffic laws, road safety regulations, and company transport policies.

· Ensure valid vehicle licenses, insurance, and inspection certificates are always available.

· Observe safe driving practices and defensive driving techniques.

· Maintain professionalism and protect the company's reputation while on the road.

Loading & Cargo Management

· Assist in loading and unloading goods where necessary.

· Ensure products are properly arranged and secured to prevent damage during transit.

· Confirm that the correct products and quantities are loaded before departure.

· Report any damaged or missing goods immediately.

Documentation & Record Keeping

· Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, fuel consumption, and vehicle inspections.

· Complete delivery notes, trip sheets, logbooks, and incident reports accurately.

· Submit all transport documentation promptly upon completion of deliveries.

Customer Service

· Deliver products professionally and courteously to customers.

· Address basic customer inquiries during deliveries and escalate issues when necessary.

· Report customer feedback, complaints, or delivery challenges to the relevant supervisor.

Security & Asset Protection

· Safeguard company vehicles, products, and transport documents.

· Ensure goods are not left unattended during transit or delivery.

· Report theft, accidents, or security incidents immediately.

· Maintain confidentiality regarding customer and company information.


KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

· Valid driving license (Class BCE or other relevant category).

· Minimum of 3 years' experience driving commercial trucks.

· Experience in FMCG distribution, preferably within the bakery or food manufacturing industry, is an added advantage.

· Clean driving record with a strong understanding of road safety regulations.

· Excellent truck driving and vehicle handling skills.

· Good knowledge of road safety and traffic regulations.

· Ability to plan routes and manage delivery schedules efficiently.

· Basic vehicle inspection and preventive maintenance knowledge.

· Strong communication and customer service skills.
