Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, scheduling, and execution of assigned projects from initiation through to close-out, in line with client contracts and scope of work.

  • Develop detailed project plans, resource schedules, and budgets, and monitor performance against these throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Coordinate cross-functional project teams, including engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, and support staff, to ensure smooth project execution.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients on assigned projects, managing expectations, communicating progress, and resolving issues promptly.

  • Monitor project budgets, track costs against forecasts, and manage variations, ensuring profitability targets are met.

  • Identify project risks proactively and develop mitigation plans to minimize schedule, cost, and quality impacts.

  • Ensure all projects comply with EHS requirements, regulatory standards, and company quality management procedures.

  • Oversee procurement and logistics planning for project materials and equipment, working closely with the supply chain team.

  • Prepare and present regular project status reports, dashboards, and updates to senior management and clients.

  • Conduct project close-out activities, including handover documentation, lessons learned, and client sign-off.

  • Mentor and guide Assistant Project Managers, site supervisors, and junior project staff.

  • Support business development efforts by contributing to project proposals, cost estimates, and technical solutions where required.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.

  • Professional Project Management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent) is required.

  • Minimum 5–7 years' experience managing projects in telecommunications, ICT, electrical, or infrastructure sectors, with at least 2 years in a project leadership role.

  • Proven track record of delivering multi-disciplinary projects on time and within budget.

  • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and MS Office Suite.

  • Strong understanding of telecommunications infrastructure (GSM, FTTX) and/or electrical and surveillance systems is highly desirable.

  • Valid driving license and willingness to travel extensively across East Africa.
