Power BI Developer

Job Summary

We are seeking a contract Power BI Developer to design, build, and maintain reporting and analytics solutions supporting business divisions across the agency. Initial one-year term with option to extend.

Key Responsibilities

·        Design, develop, and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards, and semantic models

·        Build reporting solutions on established Dataverse data models

·        Develop data connections/transformations via Power Query (SQL Server, Azure Blob Storage, Cosmos DB)

·        Develop and optimize DAX measures, calculated columns, and semantic relationships

·        Partner with stakeholders to translate business questions into visualizations

·        Implement reports per workspace, dataset, and row-level security standards

·        Maintain/enhance existing reports: performance tuning, refresh troubleshooting, defect resolution

·        Document semantic models and support end-user adoption via walkthroughs

·        Participate in agile ceremonies and backlog refinement

Required Skills & Certifications

·        4 years' professional Power BI development experience

·        3 years' strong DAX proficiency (measures, time intelligence, performance optimization)

·        3 years' Power Query/M for data transformation

·        3 years' SQL and relational data querying

·        2 years' dimensional/semantic data modeling (star schema)

·        2 years' building Power BI reports against Dataverse/Dynamics 365

·        4 years' stakeholder engagement and requirements translation

·        Strong data visualization judgment and independent priority management

Preferred Skills

·        Row-level security implementation and testing -2 yrs

·        Power BI Service administration (workspaces, gateways, deployment) -2 yrs

·        Microsoft Fabric experience

·        Azure Blob Storage/Cosmos DB as data sources -2 yrs

·        Public sector/regulatory environment experience

·        PL-300 (Power BI Data Analyst) certification
