About headspace Telepsychiatry
headspace Telepsychiatry (Telepsychiatry) is a critical part of the integrated digital mental health support provided by headspace. The program addresses barriers to accessing psychiatry services for young people and the mental health workforce in regional, rural and remote Australia. Telepsychiatry designs and delivers services intended to increase access to specialist support, improve mental health and wellbeing outcomes for young people, and increase the capacity of service providers, contributing to a strengthened and more equitable youth mental health system.

what you will do
As the National Telepsychiatry Manager you will provide strategic and operational leadership for the headspace Telepsychiatry (hT) service nationally.
The role is responsible for the overall performance, sustainability, governance and growth of the service, including operational management, workforce leadership, financial sustainability and performance, stakeholder engagement, business development and growth and continuous quality improvement.
Working in this role, you will:
- Lead the national direction, growth and operation performance of headspace Telepsychiatry
- Have financial and business development responsibilities including identifying and securing revenue generation and growth opportunities
- Oversee program budget, financial projections and expenditure
- Provide leadership to Telepsychiatry staff and contracted psychiatrists
- Oversee psychiatrist service agreements, credentialling and manage contracts with Psychiatrist, PHNs and Lead Agencies
- Oversee procurement and implementation of telepsychiatry service systems and digital platforms.
This position involves overseeing referrals and supports for young people and families experiencing complex and sometimes distressing circumstances. While meaningful and rewarding, the work can be emotionally demanding, and we encourage applicants to consider their personal capacity for this type of role.
what you will bring
To be successful in this role, you will have the following:
- Relevant degree level qualifications in health, public health and/or relevant/related field.
- Demonstrated experience working in the primary health system including workforce support and sector engagement specifically working with private GPs, allied health and/or specialist providers (eg. Psychiatrists).
- Excellent communication (written and verbal), negotiation, advocacy, organisational and time management skills
- Demonstrated experience managing a health practice and financial management of services.
- Professional, ethical with a high level of self-motivation and initiative and a demonstrated ability to work independently, multitask, solve problems and manage priorities.
- Proven ability to manage and build teams including motivation, shared purpose, managing performance and developing the culture of the hT team.
- Demonstrated understanding of strategic thinking and business acumen with a capacity to assess and manage risk and operate in a flexible and rapidly changing environment.
- Proven track record in building and maintaining effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Medicare billing systems or billing systems.
- Knowledge of compliance and standards for medical practitioners and primary care services.
