Job Description

Equipment Maintenance

  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on production machinery and mechanical equipment.
  • Inspect machinery regularly to identify potential mechanical issues before failures occur.
  • Replace worn or damaged mechanical components, including bearings, belts, gears, shafts, chains, seals, and couplings.
  • Maintain hydraulic, pneumatic, lubrication, and mechanical drive systems.

Breakdown Response

  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimize production downtime.
  • Diagnose mechanical faults using appropriate troubleshooting techniques.
  • Repair faulty equipment efficiently while maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Test repaired machinery to ensure proper operation before returning it to production.

Production Support

  • Ensure production equipment operates at maximum efficiency throughout each shift.
  • Work closely with production teams to resolve equipment-related challenges.
  • Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements to increase productivity.
  • Support production changeovers and machine setup activities where required.

Installation & Commissioning

  • Assist in the installation, alignment, and commissioning of new machinery and production equipment.
  • Conduct equipment testing and performance verification after installation.
  • Participate in machinery relocation and production line modifications.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify recurring equipment failures and implement long-term corrective actions.
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Recommend engineering modifications to improve equipment reliability and reduce maintenance costs.

Spare Parts & Inventory

  • Monitor spare parts usage and recommend replenishment of critical mechanical components.
  • Maintain tools and maintenance equipment in good working condition.
  • Assist in stock control of maintenance materials and consumables.

Documentation

  • Complete maintenance reports, service records, and equipment history logs.
  • Record breakdown analysis and corrective actions taken.
  • Maintain preventive maintenance schedules and inspection records.

Safety & Compliance

  • Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures during maintenance activities.
  • Ensure all maintenance work complies with company standards and statutory regulations.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping in workshops and production areas.
  • Minimum Qualifications
  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (Production Option), Mechanical Engineering (Plant
  • Option or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • Registration with the relevant professional body is an added advantage.
  • Training in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or other CAD software is an added advantage.
  • Experience
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Experience in machine installation, maintenance, and production support.
  • Experience with preventive and corrective maintenance of industrial equipment.
