Role Summary
The Country Lead, HSE will lead the implementation of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) programs across manufacturing facility, service and maintenance workshops, and swap stations in the country.
This role will play a key part in ensuring compliance with local and international regulations, integrating best practices, and mitigating operational risks while aligning with broader business commitments and performance expectations.
Given the scope of Spiro’s operations, this role will also be responsible for driving environmental, social and governance efforts, ensuring that operations across different sites adhere to high standards of safety, compliance, and sustainability. The HSE Lead will work closely with various stakeholders to standardize risk management approaches, enhance reporting processes, and build local capacity to ensure business continuity and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with Ghana’s E&S related laws and international standards (IFC, World Bank, ISO).
- Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and incident investigations across all sites. Implement waste management, emissions control, and resource efficiency measures.
- Develop and deliver HSE/ESG training programs for employees and contractors. Oversee HSE reporting and performance tracking, ensuring data accuracy.

Key Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational health & safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field. 1
- 7+ years of experience in HSE roles within manufacturing, energy, or industrial operations.
- Strong knowledge of local E&S related regulatory frameworks, regulator bodies and global ESG standards (IFC PSs , World bank stds, ISO,..)
- Strong experience in Management system implementation and IMS ISO certification (ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO14001)
- Experience in risk management, safety compliance, and environmental performance tracking. Certification in NEBOSH, ISO LEAD Auditor, or other sustainability certification is preferred.
- Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
