Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Clearing & Forwarding, Logistics & Supply Chain Management, International Trade, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in customs clearance or freight forwarding agency.
• Knowledge of customs procedures and import/export regulations in Kenya.
• Customs KRA valuation department Mombasa is an added advantage
• KRA benchmarking for evaluation and clearance.
• Experience using customs clearance systems and documentation processes.
• Strong understanding of shipping documentation and trade compliance.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet strict clearance deadlines.

• Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process import and export customs documentation.
  • Lodge customs entries through the relevant customs systems.
  • Ensure compliance with customs laws, regulations, and trade requirements.
  • Coordinate with the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), shipping lines, airlines, port authorities, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Monitor shipment progress and provide timely updates to clients and management.
  • Calculate applicable duties, taxes, and other customs charges.
  • Verify shipping documents including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, certificates of origin, and permits.
  • Resolve customs clearance issues, discrepancies, and delays promptly.
  • Maintain accurate records of customs transactions and shipment documentation.
  • Liaise with transporters, warehouse personnel, and clients to ensure efficient cargo movement.
  • Stay updated on changes in customs regulations and international trade procedures.
