Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Plan, design, and oversee the construction of buildings, roads, bridges, drainage systems, and other civil engineering projects.
- Prepare engineering designs, drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
- Conduct site investigations, feasibility studies, and structural assessments.
- Review project designs to ensure compliance with engineering standards and client requirements.
- Develop project schedules, cost estimates, and resource plans.
- Supervise construction activities to ensure work is carried out according to approved drawings and specifications.
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor quality, safety, and project progress.
- Coordinate contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and suppliers.
- Resolve technical issues and recommend engineering solutions during project execution.
- Ensure projects are completed within budget and agreed timelines.
- Ensure compliance with local building codes, engineering standards, and health and safety regulations.
- Conduct quality inspections on construction materials and workmanship.
- Review contractors' work and ensure adherence to project specifications.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, reports, and site records.
- Monitor project budgets, schedules, and resource utilization.
- Prepare progress reports and present updates to management and clients.
- Manage project risks and implement corrective actions where necessary.
- Coordinate project meetings and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
- Promote and enforce workplace health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Ensure all site personnel comply with safety procedures and regulations.
- Identify project risks and implement preventive measures.
- Participate in safety inspections and incident investigations.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proven years of relevant experience in civil engineering, construction, or infrastructure projects.
- Registration with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) is an added advantage.
- Membership of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) is desirable.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, STAAD Pro, ETABS, Revit, or other engineering software.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, engineering principles, and project management.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and leadership abilities.
