Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate building construction activities from foundation to project completion.
- Ensure all construction work is executed according to approved drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
- Monitor workmanship to ensure compliance with quality standards and building codes.
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify and resolve construction issues.
- Coordinate daily activities of artisans, subcontractors, and site personnel.
- Assist in project planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to management.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, quantity surveyors, and other consultants.
- Ensure materials, equipment, and manpower are available when required.
- Support the timely completion of projects within approved budgets.
- Inspect construction materials and completed work to ensure quality and compliance.
- Implement quality assurance procedures throughout the construction process.
- Identify defects and ensure corrective actions are taken promptly.
- Maintain accurate site records, inspection reports, and project documentation.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations on construction sites.
- Enforce the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by all site personnel.
- Identify potential site hazards and implement preventive measures.
- Ensure construction activities comply with local building regulations and company policies.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly site progress reports.
- Maintain records of labour, materials, equipment, and site activities.
- Monitor project costs and assist with material usage control.
- Report project challenges and recommend practical solutions.
Requirements:
- Minimum of an HND in Building Technology, Building, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Proven years of experience in building construction or site supervision.
- Membership or registration with the Nigerian Institute of Building (NIOB) and registration with the Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria (CORBON) is an added advantage.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, building materials, and construction safety practices.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and engineering drawings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and construction management software.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
