Job Description
Job Summary We are looking for an experienced Beekeeping Manager to oversee commercial beekeeping operations in Isiolo. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing apiary activities, bee colony health, honey production, harvesting, quality control, and field teams to ensure efficient and profitable operations. Key Responsibilities Manage and supervise commercial beekeeping and apiary operations. Plan and coordinate hive placement, colony management, feeding, inspection, and harvesting activities. Monitor bee colony health and productivity and implement appropriate management practices. Supervise beekeepers and field teams and ensure adherence to standard operating procedures. Coordinate honey harvesting, handling, storage, and transportation. Monitor honey yields and identify opportunities to improve productivity. Ensure proper maintenance of hives, apiary equipment, and other beekeeping tools. Maintain accurate records of colonies, production, harvesting, treatments, and field activities. Train and mentor beekeepers on modern and sustainable beekeeping practices. Monitor pest, disease, and predator management within apiaries. Work closely with the Quality Controller to ensure honey meets required quality and food safety standards. Prepare regular operational and production reports for management. Ensure compliance with applicable environmental, health, safety, and beekeeping requirements. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Agriculture, Animal Science, Horticulture, Agribusiness, Food Science, Beekeeping, or a related field. Minimum 7 years of practical experience in commercial beekeeping, with proven experience managing large-scale apiary operations. Strong knowledge of modern beekeeping techniques, colony management, honey harvesting, and post-harvest handling. Experience supervising field teams and managing commercial production targets. Good understanding of bee diseases, pests, colony health, and sustainable apiary management. Strong leadership, planning, reporting, and problem-solving skills. Ability and willingness to work in rural and field-based environments.
