Job Description

Position: Artisan II (Carpentry)
Organization: University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM)
Number of positions: 2 positions
Application period: 13 June 2026 to 26 June 2026
Remuneration: PGSS 2.1

Duties and responsibilities

The Artisan II (Carpentry) will be responsible for performing technical and craft-related duties under supervision. The duties include:

  • Performing specified craft jobs under supervision.
  • Cleaning and maintaining the work environment.
  • Taking care of tools and equipment.
  • Assisting in operational repairs of machinery and buildings.
  • Assisting in fitting and turning activities.
  • Ensuring the proper functioning of plumbing and sanitary systems.
  • Performing any other related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the following qualifications:

  • Holder of a Form IV certificate.
  • Must have one of the following qualifications from recognized institutions:
    • Competence Based Education and Training (CBET) Level II; or
    • Trade Test Grade II; or
    • Certificate in Carpentry.
