We are seeking a passionate and motivated Alcohol & Other Drugs (AOD) Practitioner to join our dedicated multidisciplinary AOD team. This is an exciting opportunity to support people at all stages of their recovery journey by delivering person-centred, trauma-informed and recovery-focused care.

As part of a collaborative and supportive team, you will work alongside clinicians, peer workers and community partners to provide a range of interventions that reduce harm, promote wellbeing and support lasting recovery outcomes.

Our AOD Team provides a comprehensive range of treatment, support and education services for individuals affected by alcohol and other drug use. Services span the continuum of care, from harm reduction and early intervention through to treatment, withdrawal support and ongoing recovery.

As an AOD Practitioner, you will:

• Conduct intake, triage and comprehensive assessments.
• Develop and implement recovery-oriented care plans.
• Provide brief interventions, counselling and recovery support.
• Deliver outreach and harm reduction services.
• Coordinate care and facilitate access to internal and external services.
• Work collaboratively with consumers, families, carers and service providers.
• Support integrated, culturally responsive and evidence-based practice.
• Contribute to continuous quality improvement and positive consumer outcomes.

To successfully apply for this position you will need to address the below:

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential

• A relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Community Services, or a related field, and/or a recognised Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) qualification. This includes completion of the AOD Skill Set, or a demonstrated willingness to successfully complete the Skill Set within 12 months of commencing employment.
• Experience undertaking intake, triage, comprehensive assessments, developing recovery plans, coordinating referrals, and supporting clients throughout their treatment and recovery.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver person-centred, trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, and culturally safe support, that promotes engagement, treatment readiness, and recovery. Proficient in applying motivational interviewing, solution-focused brief interventions, harm reduction, and other therapeutic approaches to meet individual needs.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and external services, build effective relationships, and advocate for clients to access appropriate treatment and community supports. Understanding of the Greater Bendigo region and local service system and Victorian AOD services
• Demonstrated ability to identify, assess, and respond to clinical and psychosocial risk, including family violence risk using the MARAM Framework, applying sound professional judgement, while working within legislative, organisational, and professional practice requirements.
• Highly developed written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to maintain accurate client records, care plans and reports using a range of software platforms. Capacity to contribute to quality improvement activities.
• A current employee Working with Children Check and Driver’s Licence.
• The successful applicant will also be required to undertake and complete a Satisfactory National Police Check.
