Work type: Permanent, 4-5 days, mobile service

About the role:

We’re looking for someone to join our team to deliver neurodiversity-affirming, child-centred therapy in community settings. You’ll work alongside families and carers of neurodiverse children and young people in homes, schools, childcare, and other everyday environments.

Safer Spaces is a completely mobile service, supporting clients all over Melbourne. Our client base is primarily in the Western suburbs currently although is not limited to this area. There is no office space provided, although all equipment is provided.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provision of support to NDIS Participants in a community-based and home based setting.
  • Hold a general case load, supporting children and young people aged 0 - 16 with a variety of presenting concerns.
  • Provide trauma-informed and strength based Speech Pathology services which are play-based.
  • Undertake Speech Pathology assessments and interpret assessment reports.
  • Collaborate with client teams to support holistic outcomes.
  • School holiday programs: Prepare for and Co-facilitate small groups of children on interest based programs such as cooking groups, board game groups and Nintendo based groups.
  • Playgroup: Prepare for and Co-facilitate our playgroups which aim to create early access to supports for families. This would involve attending the Melton group and Point Cook group monthly each.
  • Work independently and manage appointments within firm timeframes.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and high-quality case notes.

Selection Criteria:

  • Tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology (Bachelor or Masters)
  • Current Speech Pathology Australia membership (Provisional is sufficient)
  • Passion for trauma-informed, neuroaffirming, and person-centred care.
  • Strong assessment, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently with strong time management skills
  • Demonstrated creative problem solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate with a range of internal and external stakeholders

Essential Compliance Checks:

  • Own Comprehensively Insured Vehicle (Kilometres travelled during work will be reimbursed at the ATO rate)
  • Drivers Licence
  • Victorian Working with Children Check
  • Police check
  • NDIS worker screening number
  • Up to date Covid-19 Vaccinations
  • Right to Work in Australia
  • Desirable - First Aid/ CPR Certificate

Salary Package:

  • This role will commence at 4 days a week, with the opportunity to move to 5 days.
  • Award: Health Professionals and Support Services Award, Level 3 or higher based on experience
  • Plus Superannuation
  • Wellbeing day (with voucher provided) once per quarter (conditions apply)
  • Gifted 1 week additional leave (pro rata) during the Christmas 2 week shut down period (conditions apply)
  • Travel reimbursement at ATO rate
