Job Description
Responsibilities:
Vehicle Operation and Safe Driving:
- Operate Company trucks safely and responsibly in compliance with all traffic laws and Company policies.
- Transport finished products, raw materials, and equipment to designated delivery points.
- Ensure all deliveries are completed accurately and within agreed timelines.
- Observe defensive driving techniques to minimize accidents and vehicle damage.
- Ensure compliance with Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) regulations and other transport laws.
- Avoid reckless driving, speeding, overloading, and unauthorized use of Company vehicles.
- Maintain a valid driver's licence and all statutory driving permits.
Product Delivery and Distribution:
- Deliver electrical wires, cables, conduits, and related products to customers across Nigeria.
- Verify delivery quantities against invoices, delivery notes, and dispatch schedules before departure.
- Obtain customer acknowledgement and signed proof of delivery after every delivery.
- Report delivery discrepancies immediately to the Logistics Manager.
- Ensure products are properly secured during transportation to prevent damage.
- Assist with loading and unloading where necessary while ensuring products are handled carefully.
Vehicle Inspection and Maintenance:
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
- Promptly report mechanical faults and unusual vehicle conditions.
- Ensure vehicles are serviced according to the approved maintenance schedule.
- Maintain cleanliness of both the interior and exterior of the assigned vehicle.
- Prevent avoidable vehicle abuse through proper driving practices.
Documentation and Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate trip logs and vehicle movement records.
- Record fuel purchases and mileage after every trip.
- Ensure all delivery documents are properly completed and returned to the Logistics Department.
- Keep copies of: Waybills, delivery notes, Vehicle inspection reports, Fuel receipts, Maintenance records
- Report accidents, theft, delays, or road incidents immediately.
Fleet Compliance:
- Ensure vehicle particulars remain valid at all times, including: Vehicle Licence, Insurance, Road Worthiness Certificate, Hackney Permit (where applicable), Fire Extinguisher, Spare Tyre, Warning Triangle, Reflective Jackets, First Aid Box
- Notify the Logistics Department of impending document expirations.
Security of Company Assets:
- Safeguard Company vehicles and transported goods at all times.
- Prevent theft, pilferage, diversion, or unauthorized handling of Company products.
- Park vehicles only in safe and approved locations.
- Never leave loaded vehicles unattended without authorization.
Customer Service:
- Maintain professionalism when interacting with customers and distributors.
- Represent the Company positively during deliveries.
- Resolve minor customer concerns courteously and escalate unresolved issues.
- Communicate expected delivery times where delays occur.
Health, Safety and Environmental Compliance:
- Comply with all Company Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) policies.
- Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during loading and unloading.
- Observe warehouse and factory safety procedures.
- Report unsafe conditions immediately.
- Participate in safety training and toolbox meetings.
Operational Support
- Support emergency product deliveries when required.
- Assist during inventory transfers between warehouses.
- Participate in logistics planning meetings where necessary.
- Carry out any other duties assigned by Management.
Requirements:
- Minimum qualification of an SSCE
- 3 years of previous experience in a similar role
