• Responsibilities

Prepare operating theatres and equipment before surgical procedures.

Scrub and circulate during a wide range of surgical procedures.

Ensure adherence to infection prevention and patient safety protocols.

Maintain accurate theatre records and instrument counts.

Assist with stock control, theatre equipment maintenance and quality improvement initiatives.

Deliver compassionate, safe and evidence based perioperative nursing care.

• Requirements

Diploma or Degree in General Nursing from a recognized institution.

Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Botswana.

Post Basic Qualification in Operating Theatre Nursing.

Minimum of five years’ experience working in an operating theatre environment.

Sound knowledge of aseptic technique, infection prevention and control, instrument sterilization and perioperative patient care.

Competence in both scrub and circulating nurse roles.

Experience assisting in ophthalmic surgery will be an added advantage.

Ability to prepare operating theatres, manage surgical instruments and equipment, and maintain accurate theatre documentation.

Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and professionalism.

Willingness to participate in an on call roster when required.
