• OVERVIEW

SOS Children’s Villages Malawi is a non-governmental child protection and development organisation working to ensure that children grow up with love, respect, security, and family care.

The organisation is seeking four (4) Project Managers to lead the implementation of Standard Projects across its programmes in Malawi. The successful candidates will provide technical and financial leadership in managing family strengthening interventions, alternative care options, partnerships, monitoring and evaluation, and safeguarding initiatives.

The Project Managers will ensure that project implementation aligns with organisational policies, donor requirements, government standards, and strategic direction.

• KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Family Strengthening Interventions
• Guide the establishment and development of Community Case Management Committees (CCCs).
• Coordinate vulnerability assessments at family and community levels.
• Support formation and functioning of family support groups.
• Strengthen community-based interventions aimed at protecting children at risk of losing parental care.
• Alternative Care Management
• Strengthen implementation of alternative care options according to government standards and SOS guidelines.
• Coordinate Family Like Care interventions.
• Support the welfare of SOS parents and children under Family Like Care.
• Coordinate establishment and management of transit shelters.
• Ensure compliance with United Nations Guidelines for the Alternative Care of Children, Child Care, Protection and Justice Act, and other relevant frameworks.
• Project Planning, Budgeting and Implementation
• Develop and implement annual project plans.
• Coordinate project budgeting and ensure alignment with approved financial plans.
• Promote gender-sensitive and inclusive planning.
• Support development of emergency preparedness, response, and recovery plans.
• Partnerships and Stakeholder Engagement
• Conduct stakeholder analysis and manage stakeholder profiles.
• Represent the project in stakeholder meetings and relevant forums.
• Build partnerships with government authorities, NGOs, community structures, and service providers.
• Advocate for improved service delivery within targeted communities.
• Monitoring and Evaluation
• Lead development of project monitoring and evaluation plans.
• Facilitate development of monitoring tools.
• Track project progress, indicators, and implementation processes.
• Conduct regular programme reviews to ensure quality service delivery.
• Ensure timely updating of project databases, files, and community partner records.
• Child Safeguarding and PSHEA Responsibilities
• Provide leadership in implementing child safeguarding and Prevention of Sexual Harassment, Exploitation and Abuse (PSHEA) policies.
• Conduct safeguarding risk assessments and ensure mitigation measures are implemented.
• Support staff capacity building on safeguarding practices.
• Ensure safeguarding standards are maintained throughout project implementation.

• QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Applicants should possess:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Project Management, Development Studies, or any Social Science-related discipline.
• A Master’s Degree will be an added advantage.
• At least five (5) years’ experience implementing community development or child development programmes.
• Experience managing family strengthening interventions, alternative care options, transit homes, partnership development, networking, and advocacy.
• Strong understanding of child rights, child development, family and community development, and rights-based programming.
• Strong communication, documentation, and reporting skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Respect for different cultures and religions.
• Strong family values and commitment to child protection.
