Principal Nursing Officer/Nursing Manager

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Principal Nursing Officer/Nursing Manager to lead and oversee nursing services, ensuring the delivery of safe, patient-centered, evidence-based, and cost-effective care while promoting clinical excellence, compliance, governance, and operational efficiency.
Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical Operations and Quality Management
* Lead nursing operations and implement strategies that ensure high-quality, patient-centred care.
* Ensure compliance with clinical governance standards, policies, ethical practices, and infection prevention protocols.
* Monitor clinical outcomes, patient experience, and quality indicators, implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
* Oversee patient allocation processes and prepare strategic, management, and board reports.
Governance, Compliance and Risk Management
* Lead clinical governance and quality improvement programmes.
* Manage adverse event investigations, corrective actions, accreditation requirements, and regulatory compliance.
* Ensure proper management of patient records, departmental assets, and infection prevention programmes.
People Management
* Recruit, develop, mentor, and retain nursing staff while overseeing performance and workforce planning.
* Coordinate training, CPD, succession planning, and leadership development initiatives.
* Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous learning, including oversight of the Post Graduate School of Nursing.
Financial Management
* Support budget development, resource planning, and expenditure control.
* Promote cost-effective nursing care and ensure optimal utilization and maintenance of clinical equipment.
Stakeholder Engagement
* Build and maintain effective relationships with patients, clinicians, employees, regulators, and other stakeholders.
* Participate in professional forums and strengthen interdepartmental collaboration to achieve organisational objectives.
Strategic Business Development
* Participate in strategic business development initiatives that support organizational growth and sustainability.
Qualifications and Experience
* Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a senior hospital management position.
* Post Basic Nursing qualification, preferably in Operating Theatre Nursing.
* Master of Business Administration (MBA) is an added advantage.
* Current registration with the Nurses Council of Zimbabwe or ability to register with the same is essential.
