• Responsibilities

Dispense prescribed drugs to clients/patients and give instructions on the use for compliance and adherence.

Administers prescribed oral and injectable medications to patients observing set standards.

Administers patients’ treatment as prescribed by doctors and other health care professionals.

Assesses under-fives growth and development milestones for necessary intervention according to documented guidelines.

Implements expanded programme on immunization (EPI) through giving vaccines against communicable disease.

Provides nursing care services in different health campaigns in conjunction with relevant stakeholders.

Provides nursing care to critically ill patients.

Conduct mobile outreach services.

Orders and collects specimen for laboratory investigations.

Conducts physical examinations and administers immunizations to school going children according to school health policy guidelines.

Monitors patients’ condition during and after applied interventions by recording and observing the level of functioning and ability for continuing care.

Provides health education at individual, family and community level.

Implement and adhere to the Midwifery standards of practice of 2019 from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Botswana.
