Lilongwe Handling Company Limited (LIHACO) is a wholly Malawi Government owned commercial entity established in 2000. The core business of the company is to provide to provide passenger, ramp and cargo handling services to national and international airlines, travel & tour and lounge services to passengers traveling in and out of Malawi Airports. The Company is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant positions at the Head Office, Kamuzu International Airport.

Responsible to:

  • Maintenance and transport Manager

Responsible for:

  • Drivers

Main Responsibilities:

Ensure that transport is provided in accordance with LIHACO standards and regulations and requirements of customer airlines

Ensure that the transport section is provided with necessary facilities, workspace and supporting services as well as work environment to satisfy operational safety and security requirements

Set targets and standards for measuring and evaluating performance of drivers and operational effectiveness and efficiency of the transport section

  • In liaison with Maintenance Foreman, ensure that all vehicles are serviceable
  • Ensure vehicles have required certificates
  • Prepare insurance reports for any road accidents involving company vehicles and staff
  • Resolve safety and security issues arising from the transport section
  • Hold transport review and other meetings
  • Report incidents and accidents
  • Prepare monthly and other reports as requested by the Maintenance and Transport Manager
  • Determine training needs of drivers
  • Allocating work and appraising staff
  • Ensure the transportation of staff and passengers
  • Inspecting and testing maintained and repaired vehicles
  • Reporting hazards and safety risks in transport operations
  • Reporting vehicles, incidents and accidents
  • Instil and maintain discipline of all staff under him
  • Requirements
  • Education Qualification
  • Minimum of a Diploma in Transport Logistics or equivalent. Valid C1 Driving Licence
  • Work Experience

Four years of experience in Transport Management.
