Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and continuously review EHS policies, procedures, and risk assessments in line with OSHA (Kenya) and relevant East African statutory requirements.

  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits on telecom, electrical, and civil works sites to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.

  • Carry out risk assessments and develop method statements for high-risk activities such as tower climbing, working at heights, excavation, and electrical installations.

  • Facilitate and deliver EHS induction, training, and toolbox talks for staff, contractors, and subcontractors.

  • Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near-misses; prepare root-cause analysis reports and recommend corrective/preventive actions.

  • Maintain accurate EHS records, statistics, and reports for management and regulatory reporting purposes.

  • Ensure availability, proper use, and maintenance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) across all project sites.

  • Liaise with regulatory bodies (e.g., DOSH) and coordinate statutory inspections, permits, and certifications.

  • Support the development and testing of emergency response and evacuation plans.

  • Monitor environmental compliance, including waste management and promote sustainable site practices.

  • Advise project and site teams on EHS best practices during project planning and execution phases.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Certification in Occupational Safety and Health (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent) is required.

  • Registration with a recognized EHS professional body (e.g., IOSH, DOSH-recognized practitioner) is an added advantage.

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in an EHS role, preferably within telecommunications, construction, or electrical industries.

  • Sound knowledge of Kenyan OSHA and relevant East African EHS legislation.

  • Experience conducting risk assessments for working at height and electrical works is highly desirable.

  • Valid driving license and willingness to travel extensively to field/project sites.

    • Excellent observational and analytical skills.

    • Strong communication and training/facilitation skills.

    • High integrity and firmness in enforcing safety compliance.

    • Ability to work independently across multiple project sites.
