Job Description
Role / Duties
- Provide safe and timely transportation for staff, visitors, and organizational materials.
- Maintain the assigned vehicle in a clean, roadworthy, and serviceable condition.
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report maintenance needs promptly.
- Maintain accurate vehicle logbooks and ensure compliance with transport policies.
- Uphold road safety standards, organizational policies, and Christian values.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely transport staff, visitors, and organizational materials to authorized destinations.
- Ensure timely pick-up and drop-off while observing all traffic laws.
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections, including fuel, oil, tires, brakes, and lights.
- Keep the assigned vehicle clean and ensure timely servicing and repairs.
- Maintain accurate vehicle logbooks (AppSheet) and fuel usage records.
- Ensure all vehicle licenses, insurance, and documentation remain valid.
- Report accidents, mechanical faults, or security incidents immediately.
- Drive responsibly using defensive driving techniques and maintain a clean driving record.
- Ensure the safety and security of passengers and transported items.
- Support logistics and transport-related activities as assigned.
- Demonstrate professionalism, punctuality, integrity, and accountability.
- Work collaboratively with staff while adhering to IDI Uganda's policies and Christian values.
Minimum Requirements
- Valid Ugandan driving permit with Classes B, C1, and C.
- Minimum of five (5) consecutive years of professional driving experience.
- Defensive Driving Training certificate from a recognized institution in Uganda.
- Strong knowledge of road networks in Jinja, Mayuge, Kamuli, Luuka, Kumi, Katakwi, Amuria, Fort Portal, Karangura, Kampala, and Entebbe, with confidence driving on rural and hilly terrain.
- Clean driving record with no history of major traffic accidents or serious traffic violations.
- Previous driving experience with an NGO, development organization, or corporate institution is an added advantage.
- Basic vehicle inspection and preventive maintenance knowledge.
- Good communication skills, integrity, punctuality, and ability to work independently.
