  • Join our Community Development and AOD Harm Prevention Team to support individuals and communities to reduce harms related to alcohol and other drugs

We're looking for a passionate Community Development Officer to support local communities and in particular the Community Drug Action Team (CDAT) groups in reducing harms to individuals, communities and families related to alcohol and other drugs.

Supporting the Greater Sydney Region and based in Redfern, you'll build strong community partnerships, support volunteers, coordinate local prevention initiatives, help secure funding, and work with stakeholders to deliver meaningful, evidence-based programs that create lasting community impact.

You are a relationship-builder who thrives on bringing people together to achieve shared goals. You have experience in community development, health promotion, AOD, or a related field, and can confidently engage with volunteers, community groups, government agencies and other stakeholders. You're organised, proactive, and passionate about strengthening communities through collaboration and prevention-focused initiatives

Criteria

Diploma or higher qualification in a relevant field (e.g. AOD, Community Services, Health Promotion)

  • Experience working with local communities to achieve shared goals.
  • Experience working with volunteers.
  • Significant experience managing stakeholders and developing networks.
  • Experience developing and implementing activities including community-based activities.
  • Experience working within AOD or another relevant sector.
  • Understanding of community development, health promotion and AOD primary and secondary principles and strategies.
  • Demonstrable verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrable skill and understanding of working independently and showing initiative while operating within structures and guidelines.
  • Current NSW Drivers Licence.
  • Right to live and work in Australia.
  • National Criminal History Check (>1 yr old)
  • Working With Children paid employee Clearance.
  • COVID Vaccinated
