- Accountant (Guyana) - ANSA McAL Limited
Job Summary:
The Accountant will be responsible for supporting month-end duties by managing the accounts, preparing financial statements, reports, statutory returns whilst conducting various analysis and coordination of duties and if assigned, oversight of support staff.
Job Description:
Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements/records including consolidated reports for management review and decision making within established timelines.
Provide effective leadership through the supervision, coordination of duties, development and performance management of support staff.
Prepare daily and monthly reconciliation for all accounts including bank reconciliations and documentation.
Manage ledgers, journals and fixed asset data base, and ensure accurate financial record keeping across departments.
Identify and reconcile variances in ledgers and accounts, tracking them to the source and correcting them.
Conduct continuous analysis on variances to assist the business with strategies for continuous improvement.
Drive the month end close off procedure using processes to ensure that numbers are reliable, stable and accurate.
Prepare and manage month-end Accrual and Prepayment journals.
Ensure compliance with statutory accounting standards and audit practices.
Ensure timely preparation and submission of tax returns.
Oversee the collection, deposit, and reconciliation of bank funds and accounts.
Liaise with Internal/External Auditors to ensure audited accounts are submitted in a timely manner and in compliance with Group Policy.
Perform all duties in conformance to appropriate health, safety, security and environmental policies and procedures.
Perform any other job duties as required by the job function.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Qualified professional in ACCA / CIMA / CMA or equivalent
- At least four (4) years accounting experience
- Experience in using computerized accounting packages and MS Office Suite
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Must be meticulous and the ability to analyse and solve problems is essential
High level of analytical skills with the ability to conduct audits to identify and resolve discrepancies in financial documents
- Collaborative with the ability to be a key team player
Ability to manage employee performance for success where goals are created, competencies are incorporated, and constructive feedback is provided for continuous improvement.
Resilient and the ability to work effectively under pressure, managing a diverse and competing workload.
