No. It falls under the Protection of Employment Act and is administered by Dominica Social Security, but it is not a Social Security benefit.
How long must I work to qualify for redundancy benefit?
At least three years, and you must be covered by the Protection of Employment Act. That threshold is longer than most of the region.
What does the 0.25% contribution difference mean?
Employers pay 7.75% for employees covered by the Protection of Employment Act and 7.50% for those not covered. That quarter point is the redundancy contribution.
Who is excluded from redundancy benefit?
Employees who are the father, mother, husband, wife, brother, sister, son or daughter of the employer.
What is the maximum redundancy benefit?
Fifty-two weeks’ pay.
