About MARRA
MARRA Community Hub Inc. is an early-stage, not-for-profit community organisation in Caulfield South (City of Glen Eira, Melbourne). We're building a community hub from the ground up — openly and honestly, without pretending to be bigger than we are. Our volunteer developers have already built the platform that runs our volunteer and workshop programs. Now we need someone to tell the story.
The role
You'll be MARRA's first Social Media Manager — a volunteer who runs our channels and puts our upcoming community workshops in front of the right local audience.
What you'll do:
- Plan and publish posts on MARRA's channels
- Promote the community workshops we'll be holding soon — before, during and after each one
- Attend workshops in person in Caulfield South to take photos and gather stories and content
- Help shape how a brand-new community organisation sounds online
What we're looking for
- Working knowledge of social media marketing — content planning, writing, simple visuals
- A basic understanding of targeted / paid social (getting a workshop post in front of the right suburb matters more to us than going viral)
- Ability to attend workshops in person in Caulfield South / Glen Eira — being there with a camera is half the role
- A warm, honest communication style and a genuine interest in community work
- Marketing or communications study or experience is a plus, not a must
Commitment
Around 5–10 hours a week, flexible around your study and work, typically for 3–6 months (adjusted to suit you). Planning and posting can happen from anywhere; workshops are in person.
Pay and benefits
This is an unpaid volunteer position — there is no salary, and no cost to participate. What you do get:
- Real campaigns for your portfolio, with an Australian organisation
- A written reference and a volunteer certificate on completing the program
- A genuine say in something being built from day one
How applying works
- To submit your application please click 'Apply Now' by the closing date.
