Work mode: On-site · Location: Queensland, Australia · Schedule: Full Time · Salary: A$ 110,000/year.
Job Description
The opportunity
Job Capital is seeking an experienced Tilewright for a permanent role with an established Australian
manufacturing operation. This is a senior, hands-on factory position combining machinery maintenance,
production responsibility, technical problem-solving and team leadership.
The successful candidate will take ownership of an operating area, with accountability for production
volume, quality, waste, downtime, machine reliability, maintenance, spare parts, housekeeping and the
performance and training of process controllers.
What the role involves
- Manage all aspects of an allocated production area across production, people and processes.
- Attend and resolve machinery breakdowns quickly to minimise downtime and maintain continuous production.
- Perform and coordinate planned and breakdown maintenance within the area.
- Work with PLCs, automation, electronics, computers, hydraulics and mechanical/electrical systems.
- Inspect product and machinery, make setup adjustments and ensure output meets specification.
- Analyse production and maintenance problems and assist team members to resolve issues.
- Establish and adjust work procedures and plans to meet production schedules.
- Identify and implement improvements to production methods, equipment performance, efficiency, waste and product quality.
- Maintain QA specifications, production records, results, processes and procedures.
- Use SAP for spare-parts ordering and maintain an organised, appropriately stocked storeroom.
- Lead, guide and train process controllers and other employees in the area.
- Contribute to maintenance forecasts, budgets and capital expenditure proposals.
- Maintain strong communication with other factory departments where issues may affect production.
Technical background
We are looking for candidates with a strong industrial maintenance background. A mechanical and/or
electrical technical qualification is expected, together with substantial practical factory experience.
- Mechanical and/or electrical trade or technical qualification.
- Extensive experience maintaining and troubleshooting industrial manufacturing machinery.
- Strong understanding of PLCs and industrial automation.
- Experience with electronics, computer-controlled equipment and hydraulics.
- Ability to diagnose faults and make sound technical decisions under production pressure.
- Experience in a continuous-production or high-volume manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
- SAP or similar maintenance / parts-management system experience is advantageous.
Leadership & personal capability
- Confident working autonomously and making timely decisions.
- Strong sense of ownership and accountability for an area, its people and its output.
- Credible hands-on leader who can guide teams toward production and quality targets.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to prioritise competing production and maintenance demands.
- Continuous-improvement mindset with a focus on waste reduction, reliability, cost and quality.
- Adaptable and willing to develop skills as factory technology changes.
- Willing to assist across other factory areas when operationally required.
Hours & roster expectations
The role operates on a rotating structure that includes weekday day shifts, weekend coverage and on-call
responsibility. Indicative weekday hours are 6:45 am to 5:00 pm. On rostered weekends, attendance may be
required from approximately 6:45 am to midday depending on workload and factory issues.
Flexibility is essential. Earlier starts, later finishes and call-outs may be required for breakdowns, production
needs or staffing issues. When contacted for technical assistance, the Tilewright is expected to respond and
assist by phone or in person as required.
Annual shutdown requirement
A significant portion of critical annual maintenance is undertaken during the factory Christmas/New Year
shutdown. Availability during this period is an important requirement of the role, and annual leave may need
to be planned around the shutdown maintenance program.
Key performance measures
Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) Above 85%
Fired waste Below 5%
Entire-factory production gaps Below 2,000 minutes per month
Candidate profile for referral
Resource partners should prioritise candidates who can demonstrate substantial hands-on industrial
maintenance capability rather than purely supervisory experience. Please provide a current CV together with
details of trade/technical qualifications, machinery and automation experience, current location, work rights
or migration status, availability and remuneration expectations. Minimum: recognised trade qualification, or Year 12 plus relevant tertiary qualification.
