• Responsibilities

Provide psychological services, assessments, and treatment plans for students facing personal, emotional, academic, or interpersonal challenges

Conduct assessments and provide treatment programmes/ plans to address student challenges or difficulties.

Provide resources that are helpful to students in their social, psychological and emotional adjustment.

Liaise with faculties and University staff to address issues of mental health in the university.

Make appropriate referrals to specialized services or outside resources.

• Maintain accurate and confidential records of sessions and interventions provided

Provide crisis intervention to students who are going through mental health issues or traumatic experiences.

Assess student needs and design rehabilitative support programs.

Provide individual and group counselling for students with emotional and physical impairments to facilitate coping strategies.

Develop tailored academic, psychological, and social support plans with stakeholders.

Train students and guardians on self-management techniques.

Design and implement mental health awareness and education programmes.

Organize seminars and outreach initiatives on mental health to improve mental wellbeing and reduce stigma.

Participate in mental health activities and initiatives to raise awareness.

Provide consultative services within the university, community agencies, social services agencies, rehabilitation programs and health maintenance organizations.

• Requirements

A Masters’ degree in Psychology, Rehabilitation Psychology or related qualifications is required.

Professional license, in good standing, with Botswana Health Professions Council (BHPC) or eligibility to register is required.

A minimum of four (4) years of experience, three (3) of which should have been at the officer level. Higher education experience will be an added advantage.

Strong clinical skills, including psychological assessments and diagnosis.

Knowledge of rehabilitation psychology principles.

Excellent in communication, interpersonal and crisis intervention skills.
