- OVERVIEW
Lotus Africa is inviting applications from suitably qualified and motivated individuals for the position of
- Senior Buyer
at Kayelekera Uranium Mine in Karonga. The successful candidate will be responsible for procuring goods and services, managing supplier relationships, negotiating competitive pricing, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective delivery of quality products and services to support mining operations.
The role also provides procurement leadership, drives strategic sourcing initiatives, and supports operational departments through effective procurement planning and execution.
- KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage the end-to-end procurement of goods and services in line with company policies and operational requirements.
Lead RFQ and tender processes, supplier evaluations, commercial assessments, and contract negotiations.
Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure reliable supply and cost competitiveness.
Identify alternative suppliers and implement cost-saving and value-improvement initiatives.
Expedite critical purchase orders and resolve supply chain issues to minimise operational disruptions.
Monitor supplier and contract performance and address non-conformance where necessary.
Maintain accurate procurement records, expenditure analysis, and procurement reports.
Provide procurement guidance and support to internal stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and SHERQ standards.
Contribute to continuous improvement within the procurement and supply chain function.
- Requirements
- QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Education
Degree or Diploma in Procurement and Supply Chain Management or a related discipline.
- Experience
Minimum of five (5) years' experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management.
Experience in mining, industrial, manufacturing, or heavy industry environments will be an added advantage.
Proven experience in supplier management, strategic sourcing, and commercial negotiations.
Strong understanding of procurement processes, contract administration, and inventory management principles.
Experience using ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
