• This assignment seeks to train and upskill local operators, identify training needs and implement a training plan, and work with Foreman and Supervisors to improve efficiency and effectiveness of Plant Operators
• To be considered for this role, you’ll need a valid heavy equipment operator certification, a minimum of 5 years of experience in operating graders or similar machinery, a proven track record of maintaining equipment and ensuring its optimal performance, and able to do both theoretical and practical in department's provincial locations.
• You will be working alongside Fleet Manager, workshop manager, and operators for this assignment

About the partner organisation

Public Works Department (PWD) is part of the Ministry of Infrastructure & Public Utilities (MIPU) and is responsible for maintaining and improving the national road network. PWD has offices in the six provinces including workshops and plant and equipment for maintaining and constructing roads. Most of the road network is maintained by the private sector, however PWD has a fleet of plant with operators and maintenance crews to maintain and construct minor road projects as directed by the PWD Director and Senior Managers.

The volunteer will be based in the department's headquarters in Port Vila where their focus will be. From time to time, it may be required to accompany staff travelling to other provincial offices for training and specific support. Hybrid modality would be considered, please discuss with the recruiter.

Allowance

AUD $4,172 per month.

Requirements

• All applicants must be Australian citizens or holders of Permanent Residency Visa of Australia, or New Zealand residents in Australia with a Special Category Visa (SCV).
• A National Police Check must be completed during the application process.
• A Psychological Test is required for all volunteer assignments.

Additional requirements for this assignment include First Aid Certificate.
