Job Description

The Research Officer II (Beekeeping) will be responsible for supporting and implementing beekeeping-related research, training, and field operations. The duties include:

  • Managing beekeeping operations, including:
    • Hive maintenance
    • Queen rearing
    • Honey extraction and quality control
    • Pest and disease control
  • Conducting training sessions and capacity-building programs for farmers and community groups.
  • Monitoring and evaluating bee health, behaviour, and colony performance.
  • Supporting research on:
    • Pollination
    • Honey production
    • Effects of environmental changes on bees
  • Collecting, processing, and analyzing data related to beekeeping and forest ecosystems.
  • Collaborating with research scientists and stakeholders to disseminate and apply relevant research findings.
  • Developing research proposals aimed at securing internal and external funding.
  • Publishing research outcomes in peer-reviewed scientific journals and other publication media.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold both a Master’s Degree and Bachelor’s Degree in Beekeeping from recognized institutions.

The applicant must also have a minimum of an Upper Second Class or an overall minimum of Grade B+ for unclassified undergraduate degrees.
