• Responsibilities

Provide psychological services to students dealing with personal, emotional, academic and interpersonal challenges.

Conduct assessments and provide treatment programmes/ plans to address student challenges or difficulties.

Provide resources that are helpful to students in their social, psychological and emotional adjustment.

Liaise with faculties and University staff to address issues of mental health in the university.

Make appropriate referrals to specialized services or outside resources.

• Maintain accurate and confidential records of sessions and interventions provided

Provide crisis intervention to students who are going through mental health issues or traumatic experiences.

Conduct assessments of students with special needs and develop recommendations for appropriate mental health, educational and rehabilitation interventions.

Assist in the development and implementation of mental health awareness and education programs.

Help to organize seminars, outreach, and initiatives to improve wellbeing and reduce stigma.

Participate in activities that raise mental health awareness.

Provide consultative services to the university, community agencies and health organizations.

• Requirements

A Masters’ degree in Clinical, Counselling Psychology or related qualifications is required.

Professional license, in good standing, with Botswana Health Professions Council (BHPC) or eligibility to register is required.

Strong clinical skills, including psychological assessments and diagnosis.

Excellent in communication, interpersonal and crisis intervention skills.
