POSITION SUMMARY

Trigon Associates, LLC is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead implementation of a proposed Field Support Services Project (FSSP) in Ghana. The Project Manager will have overall responsibility for the effective planning, coordination, management, and delivery of project activities, ensuring that project objectives, deliverables, schedules, quality standards, and stakeholder expectations are met.

The Project Manager will serve as the primary management point of contact for the project and will work closely with the client, government counterparts, development partners, Technical Specialists, subcontractors, and other stakeholders. The successful candidate will bring demonstrated experience managing complex international development projects in developing-country environments and the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in a dynamic, multicultural setting.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Key Responsibilities

The Project Manager will:

  • Formulate, implement, and manage comprehensive project plans, including defining deliverables, establishing milestones, assigning responsibilities, monitoring progress, and ensuring timely completion of activities.
  • Establish project priorities, work plans, schedules, performance objectives, and mechanisms for monitoring project implementation.
  • Identify, assess, and manage project risks and emerging issues and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Plan and coordinate the activities of project personnel, Technical Specialists, subcontractors, consultants, stakeholders, and other project support providers.
  • Monitor project performance, progress, quality, schedules, and deliverables and take corrective action when necessary.
  • Provide regular briefings to the client and project stakeholders regarding project progress, accomplishments, challenges, risks, and emerging issues.
  • Prepare and deliver formal and informal project briefings at key points throughout the project life cycle.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the project authority, providing timely advice and recommendations on project implementation, priorities, risks, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Lead the preparation, review, quality assurance, and timely submission of project reports, technical documents, work plans, deliverables, and other contractual requirements.
  • Ensure project deliverables meet client requirements, applicable standards, and established quality expectations.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication and coordination among project team members, client representatives, government counterparts, development partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain a strong network of international development stakeholders, including government institutions, civil society organizations, donors, private-sector organizations, development partners, and other relevant actors.
  • Assess stakeholder needs, priorities, expectations, and interests and ensure that project activities and approaches remain aligned with project objectives and client priorities.
  • Lead stakeholder consultations and facilitate collaboration among diverse organizations and interest groups.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen partnerships, coordination, and knowledge sharing among development stakeholders.
  • Lead project reviews and post-project assessments, including lessons-learned activities, and ensure findings and recommendations are documented and shared with the project team, client, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Promote continuous improvement by incorporating lessons learned and best practices into project implementation.
  • Represent Trigon Associates and the project in meetings, workshops, consultations, and other engagements with clients, government officials, development partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual, administrative, reporting, and other project requirements.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and direction to project personnel and technical resources.
  • Perform other duties necessary to ensure successful project implementation.


Education

  • Bachelor's degree or higher from a recognized educational institution. Project Manager’s highest level of education completed in the following disciplines: political sciences, law, international development, economics, finance, business administration, project management, social sciences, engineering or applied sciences, and is from a recognized educational institution: a public, non-governmental or private entity that has been given full or limited authority to provide formal specialized training is recognized by the Canadian Information Centre for International Credentials


Required Professional Experience

Candidates must have:

  • At least six (6) years of experience working as a Project Manager.
  • Experience supporting and coordinating at least two (2) international development projects completed within the past six years.
  • Experience on projects with a minimum value of CAD $2 million and a minimum duration of two years.
  • Demonstrated experience performing the project manager responsibilities described above.


International Development Experience

Experience working in Ghana or another developing country is highly desirable.

Candidates should demonstrate substantial experience working with international development assistance stakeholders and coordinating activities at the country or regional level.

Candidates must demonstrate experience working with three or more types of international development stakeholders, such as:

  • Government ministries, departments, or agencies
  • Civil society organizations
  • International donors
  • Multilateral organizations
  • International development organizations
  • Private-sector organizations
  • NGOs and community-based organizations
  • Development partners
  • Technical specialists and consultants

Experience in sectors relevant to international development programs, such as economic growth, agriculture, gender equality and women's empowerment, environment and climate action, infrastructure, governance, health, or social development, is an asset.


Language Requirements

  • Professional proficiency in English, including excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of local Ghanaian languages is an asset.
