Position Details

  • Part-Time, Maximum Term Contract until October 2027 (Parental Leave Cover)
  • Health Professional Level 2 with a salary range of $99,432 - $111,229 per annum pro rata + Superannuation
  • Salary packaging arrangements providing tax benefits available
  • Location: Joondalup, WA 6027

About your new role

The Mental Health Clinician (MHC) is based in the Joondalup Mental Health Step Up Step Down Service (JMHSS) which is a 22 bed sub-acute facility that provides an option for people who are becoming unwell or are still recovering from an acute illness and need a short period of additional support and consolidation to complement their treatment and support.

The JMHSS aims to prevent avoidable inpatient admissions. As the MHC, you will provide tailored therapeutic and psychological supports to vulnerable consumers living with multiple complex needs including, but not limited to mental health, complex trauma, dual diagnosis, dual disability, exploring gender identity and physical health and wellness. Practising autonomously within their professional scope, the MHC delivers high quality mental health care including intake and assessment, evidence based psychological therapies individually and through the facilitation of therapeutic groups relevant to the program. The role integrates therapeutic engagement and health education, while promoting trauma-informed, and culturally safe practice.

What you will bring to the role

  • Formal tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work or Occupational Therapy or related
  • Current full registration as a Psychologist or Occupational Therapist with current annual practicing certificate from the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) essential, OR
  • Current full registration as a Social Worker with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), Or a relevant tertiary qualification and professional registration:
  • Counselling or Psychotherapy with current level 3 membership with ACA or clinical

  • Current Working with Children Check - required before commencement of work

  • A valid driver's licence
