Job Description
Job Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on forklifts in accordance with the manufacturer's recommended maintenance schedule.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine faults using appropriate diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Repair or replace defective components, including brakes, steering systems, transmissions, hydraulic pumps, batteries, motors, and other related parts.
- Inspect forklifts to ensure compliance with safety regulations, company standards, and operational requirements.
- Conduct operational and performance tests after repairs to verify that equipment is functioning properly.
- Inspect, adjust, and service tires, chains, bearings, and other moving components to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Accurately record all maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and parts used in maintenance logs or computerized maintenance systems.
- Recommend or order replacement parts and assist in maintaining an adequate inventory of spare parts and consumables.
- Ensure all tools, workshop equipment, and diagnostic instruments are properly maintained and kept in good working condition.
- Comply with all workplace health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures while carrying out maintenance activities.
- Provide guidance to forklift operators on proper equipment operation, daily inspections, and basic preventive maintenance practices.
Job Requirement
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
- Technical certificate, diploma, or vocational training in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Heavy Equipment Maintenance, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2–5 years of hands-on experience in the maintenance and repair of forklifts or other material handling equipment.
- Good knowledge of preventive maintenance programs, troubleshooting techniques, and diagnostic procedures.
- Strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
- Proficient in using maintenance tools, testing equipment, and diagnostic instruments.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to work independently.
- Good communication skills, a strong sense of responsibility, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Willingness to work in a workshop and field environment, including overtime or emergency callouts when required.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in forklift maintenance, diesel engine repair, automotive repair, or electrical maintenance is an advantage.
- Experience servicing major forklift brands such as Toyota, Linde, Jungheinrich, Hyster, HELI, Hangcha, or equivalent is preferred.
- Basic English reading skills for interpreting technical manuals and service documentation will be an added advantage.
