Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Design and execute the overall deposit mobilization strategy to grow low-cost savings, current accounts, and fixed deposits in line with the bank's funding and profitability targets.
- Source appropriately priced and structured deposit liabilities from retail, corporate, and institutional sources.
- Identify and cultivate new business from high-net-worth individuals (HNIs), corporates, SMEs, cooperatives, and public institutions on an ongoing basis.
- Develop and implement plans that improve deposit retention and manage withdrawal attrition.
- Lead, manage, and mentor the deposit mobilization/relationship team, setting clear performance metrics and sales targets.
- Serve as a senior point of contact for major depositors and institutional relationships, ensuring efficient and courteous service.
- Ensure timely resolution of client feedback, complaints, and account-related requests.
- Contribute to the design of competitive savings schemes, reward structures, tenor options, and other deposit products aligned with market trends and customer needs.
- Provide field insights to shape marketing and product strategy.
- Ensure all deposit mobilization activities comply with AML, KYC, CBN guidelines, and internal due diligence policies.
- Ensure account opening documentation is complete, accurate, and properly registered, protecting the interests of both depositors and the bank.
- Liaise with Compliance to safeguard regulatory standing.
- Track and report on deposit growth, portfolio mix, attrition, and team performance against targets to the MD/CEO.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Banking, Finance, Economics, Marketing, or Business Administration (a Master's degree is an advantage).
- 8 - 12 years of banking/financial services experience, with a strong track record in liability generation, deposit mobilization, and team leadership.
- Membership of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) - Associateship of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (ACIB) preferred
- Strong negotiation skills and a deep, active network of corporate, HNI, and institutional relationships.
- Proven ability to consistently deliver and exceed deposit targets.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, with sound judgment on risk and compliance matters.
- Confident, self-driven, and able to initiate and lead projects with minimal supervision.
