Position Summary
The role involves preventive and corrective maintenance, equipment lifecycle management, compliance monitoring, vendor coordination, and ensuring optimal functionality of critical medical equipment to support quality patient care and hospital operations.
Qualifications Required / Experience Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering.
- Minimum 5–8 years’ experience in hospital biomedical engineering.
- Minimum 2–3 years in a supervisory or senior role preferred.
- Biomedical Equipment Technician/Engineer Certification
- Electrical Safety Certification
- ISO/Internal Auditor Certification
- OEM Technical Training Certificates
- Medical Gas Pipeline System Training
Technical Expertise Required / Experience Handling: ICU equipment, OT equipment, Imaging systems, Dialysis equipment, Laboratory analyzers and machines, Hospital gas systems

Roles & Responsibilities
1. Medical Equipment Management
- Ensure proper functioning of all biomedical equipment.
- Supervise installation, testing, commissioning, and acceptance of new equipment.
- Maintain updated asset inventory and equipment database.
- Monitor equipment lifecycle and replacement planning.
2. Preventive & Corrective Maintenance
- Develop preventive maintenance schedules.
- Ensure timely repair of faulty equipment.
- Reduce equipment downtime.
- Conduct electrical safety testing and calibration.
3. Critical Care & OT Equipment Support
Manage and support: Ventilators, Patient monitors, Defibrillators, Anesthesia machines, Electrosurgical units, Infusion/syringe pumps, OT tables and lights, Laparoscopic systems
4. Imaging & Diagnostic Equipment Coordination
Coordinate maintenance and service support for: X-ray systems, CT Scan, Ultrasound, MRI (if available), C-arm systems, Laboratory analyzers.
5. Compliance & Safety
Ensure compliance with: Hospital safety standards, Electrical safety regulations, Accreditation requirements (JCI/NABH/ISO), Maintain calibration and maintenance records., Participate in risk assessments and incident investigations.
6. Staff Supervision & Training
- Supervise biomedical technicians and junior engineers.
- Conduct technical training for users and staff.
- Guide clinical staff on proper equipment handling.
7. Vendor & AMC Management
- Coordinate with equipment suppliers and service providers.
- Monitor Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMC) and warranty services.
- Verify service reports and maintenance quality.
8. Inventory & Spare Parts Management
- Maintain stock of essential spare parts and accessories.
- Monitor consumables related to biomedical equipment.
- Prevent delays caused by spare shortages.
9. Documentation & Reporting: Maintain Records Of:
- Preventive maintenance
- Breakdown reports
- Calibration certificates
- Equipment history
- Asset movement
- Service contracts
