About Us

Merri Outreach Support Service (MOSS) has been supporting people experiencing or at risk of homelessness for more than 35 years. We work alongside individuals, families and communities to improve access to housing, support services and opportunities for meaningful social connection. Our vision is simple: Striving to end homelessness, sustaining housing and strengthening communities.

About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and organised Volunteer Coordinator to lead and grow our volunteer program across MOSS. This is a rewarding paid position where you will recruit, train, support and celebrate volunteers who make a genuine difference in the lives of people experiencing social isolation, housing vulnerability and other challenges.

Based across our Brunswick and Northcote sites, you will coordinate volunteers involved in social activities, friendly visiting, community events, Foodbank services and transport assistance. You will work closely with staff across the organisation to identify volunteer opportunities, ensure volunteers feel valued and supported, and help build stronger, more connected communities. The position is 24 hours per week and offers flexibility in how hours are arranged. We welcome applications from people seeking a family-friendly role, with the position well suited to either three days per week or four shorter days across the week.

We are looking for someone with experience in volunteer coordination, community services or a similar role who is passionate about community engagement and inclusion. You will be a strong communicator with excellent organisational skills, the ability to build positive relationships with diverse stakeholders and a commitment to supporting volunteers to succeed in their roles. Experience with volunteer recruitment, training, compliance and record management will be highly regarded.

At MOSS, our people are at the heart of everything we do. We offer a supportive and values-driven workplace with excellent benefits, including salary packaging, a paid lunch break, additional leave over Christmas, paid parental leave, wellbeing supports and access to an Employee Assistance Program.

We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce and strongly encourage applications from First Nations people, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, people with disability, and people who identify as LGTIQA+.
