Job Description
52.1499633789063;-8.38871002197266;Station Road , Ballyhooly , Co. Cork , P51 KR02 We are seeking experienced Steel Fixers to join our construction team. The successful candidates will be responsible for cutting, bending, positioning, and securing reinforcing steel bars and mesh used in reinforced concrete structures on residential, commercial, industrial, and civil engineering projects. Key Duties and Responsibilities Read and interpret construction drawings, reinforcement schedules, and technical specifications. Measure, cut, bend, and shape reinforcing steel bars and mesh using manual and mechanical equipment. Position, assemble, and securely tie reinforcing steel in accordance with engineering drawings. Install reinforcement for foundations, columns, beams, walls, slabs, bridges, and other reinforced concrete structures. Fix spacers, chairs, couplers, and other reinforcement accessories to maintain specified concrete cover. Inspect reinforcement before concrete placement to ensure compliance with project specifications. Use hand and power tools safely and efficiently. Work closely with engineers, supervisors, shuttering carpenters, and concrete crews. Comply with all health and safety procedures and maintain a safe, clean work environment. Carry out work to a high standard of quality while meeting project deadlines. Key Requirements Minimum 2 years’ relevant experience as a Steel Fixer or Reinforcement Steel Fixer. Ability to read and interpret reinforcement drawings, bar bending schedules, and construction plans. Experience in cutting, bending, tying, and installing reinforcing steel. Good knowledge of reinforced concrete construction methods. Competent in the safe use of steel fixing tools, cutting equipment, and bending machinery. Good understanding of construction site health and safety practices. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Physically fit and capable of carrying out manual work in a construction environment. Good communication skills in English. A recognised trade qualification or relevant certification is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided to meet our company standards.- Sector:
