Position summary

The Senior Network Administrator will lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of the organization’s network infrastructure. The role is responsible for ensuring that all network systems are optimized, secure, and fully operational to support business needs, particularly in the area of border control systems.

The Senior Network Administrator will oversee troubleshooting, performance monitoring, and infrastructure improvements while ensuring compliance with security protocols.

Key responsibilities

The Senior Network Administrator will be responsible for:

• Managing, configuring, and monitoring network hardware and software.
• Implementing and maintaining secure and efficient network architectures.
• Troubleshooting and resolving complex network issues promptly.
• Analyzing network performance and providing optimization recommendations.
• Collaborating with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration of network solutions.
• Staying updated on emerging technologies to recommend system enhancements.
• Providing technical leadership and mentorship to the network administration team and the NOC.

Required qualifications and experience

Applicants must have:

• A bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Network Administrator or in a similar role.
• Expertise in network administration, including LAN/WAN, firewalls, and VPNs.
• Proficiency in monitoring tools and network management software.
• Strong knowledge of network infrastructure, virtualization, and cloud platforms.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication abilities.
• Fluency in both English and Kiswahili, spoken and written.
• Previous experience in the aviation industry is an added advantage.

Required certifications

Applicants must have at least one of the following certifications:

• Dell EMC Certified Professional Networking.
• Fortinet Network Security Expert (NSE) Certification.
• Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or higher.
• Relevant certifications in firewall management, such as Palo Alto or Juniper.
• CompTIA Network+ or equivalent certification.

Candidate profile

This position requires a detail-oriented and proactive professional with the capability to ensure that the organization’s network systems are reliable, scalable, and secure. Previous experience in the aviation industry is a plus.
