- OVERVIEW
A leading Industrial Catering Services Company based in Lilongwe is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Quality Assurance Officer.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring effective implementation of quality assurance systems, maintaining food safety standards, monitoring production processes, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements for processed meals.
- KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure timely and effective implementation of company policies, procedures, and quality assurance activities for processed meals.
- Maintain close working relationships with supervisory personnel to ensure product quality, identify and prevent quality issues, improve productivity, and comply with regulatory requirements.
- Review production batch records and related documents to verify compliance with production processes, quality checks, testing, sampling, and sanitation activities.
- Conduct quality control audits of raw materials, labels, and finished meals to ensure compliance with approved specifications and regulatory standards.
- Monitor implementation of food safety and quality programmes including:
- Good Hygiene Practices (GHP)
- HACCP
- Allergen Control
- Cleaning and Sanitation Programmes
- Pest Control
- Equipment Calibration
- Organic Certification requirements
- Assist in investigating and correcting quality-related issues, including customer complaints, through collaboration with relevant departments.
- Participate in regulatory, third-party, and customer audits and inspections.
- Coordinate internal and external audits, including IMS ISO audits and customer audits.
- Support corrective action responses following audits and inspections.
- Requirements
- QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree of Science, preferably in:
- Food Science
- Or a related field
Experience:
- Minimum of three (3) years’ work experience as a Quality Assurance Technician in dietary supplements or a related field.
- SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Strong knowledge of quality assurance and food safety systems.
- Ability to monitor production quality and compliance standards.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong documentation and record-keeping abilities.
- Ability to conduct audits and prepare reports.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work effectively with different teams.
- CERTIFICATIONS (ADDED ADVANTAGE)
Valid competency certificates in:
- HACCP Certification.
- Allergen Control Training.
- Food Recall Training.
- 21 CFR Part 111 Training Certifications.
