Job Description
General Purpose Our client, a market leader in the food manufacturing sector with exciting brands such as drinking chocolates, ice cream, yogurts, topping sauces, and chocolate spreads, is seeking to recruit a Quality Assurance Assistant to support the implementation of quality assurance systems, food safety standards, and product quality monitoring across the manufacturing process.
Location: Tilisi Logistics Park, Limuru | Salary: Ksh. 35,000
Duties & Responsibilities • Conduct routine quality inspections and audits on raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished products. • Monitor production processes to ensure compliance with established quality and food safety standards. • Perform product sampling, testing, and analysis, and document results accurately. • Ensure adherence to HACCP, FSMS, FSSC 22000, GMP, and other food safety requirements. • Investigate quality deviations, customer complaints, and non-conformities, and support implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). • Maintain quality records, reports, certificates, and documentation in accordance with regulatory and company requirements. • Support internal and external audits and ensure timely closure of audit findings. • Monitor plant hygiene standards, sanitation activities, and pest control programs. • Participate in risk assessments, change management processes, equipment calibration, and validation activities. • Track quality performance indicators and prepare quality reports for management review. • Train and sensitize production staff on quality, food safety, hygiene, and compliance requirements. • Verify compliance with OSHA Act 2007 and other applicable health and safety regulations. • Support continuous improvement initiatives through KAIZEN and root cause analysis (RCA) methodologies. • Collaborate with Production, Maintenance, Procurement, and Warehouse teams to ensure quality objectives are achieved. • Ensure customer specifications and expectations are consistently met.
Requirements & Qualifications • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science or Dairy Technology (Mandatory). • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a Food Manufacturing Industry within the Quality Control/Quality Assurance Department. • Practical understanding of quality assurance processes within a manufacturing environment. • Knowledge of Food Safety Standards and
Regulatory Requirements. • Product Testing, Inspection, and Quality Monitoring. • Strong Attention to Detail. • Understanding of Manufacturing Processes. • Documentation and Record Management. • Problem Solving and Corrective Action Implementation. • Effective Communication Skills. • Familiarity with Quality Management Systems (QMS). • Analytical Thinking and Data Interpretation. • Teamwork and Collaboration. • Time Management and Ability Multitask. • Adaptability and Continuous Improvement Mindset. • Customer-Focused Quality Standards. • Sound understanding of HACCP systems across different production lines.
