2E Gifted Learning Mentor (Manchester, Jamaica)

This is more than just a tutoring position. We are looking for someone who is genuinely fascinated by how people think, loves sharing their knowledge, and would find deep fulfillment in contributing to the development of a gifted young mind.

About the Learner

Our learner is a young, 2E (twice-exceptional) child. He is self-taught in many areas, including reading, language, music, and some math. His learning style is unique: he learns best through hands-on exploration, demonstration, experimentation, and making connections between ideas. Long lectures or traditional, talk-heavy instruction are not effective for him. He thrives on curiosity, rhythm, and practical application.

We need a mentor who is patient, respectful, and open-minded—someone who understands that "different" does not mean "deficient."

What We Are Looking For

We are seeking passionate individuals with strong knowledge or ability in one or more of these areas:

• Mandarin Chinese or Spanish
• Music (Piano or another instrument)
• Science (Chemistry, Physics, Engineering)
• Robotics & Mechanics
• Mathematics
• Other technical, scientific, or creative disciplines

This is not a traditional teaching role. You do not need to be a licensed teacher, certified educator, or professional tutor. In fact, we are particularly interested in:

• University/college students
• Engineers, scientists, musicians, and mathematicians
• Skilled hobbyists and professionals
• Anyone with deep practical experience in a subject they love

The goal is to provide short, engaging 30-minute sessions that spark curiosity and are tailored to how this learner thinks. You will use demonstrations, experiments, building projects, and fun, memorable activities—not just conversation or lectures.

Compensation is negotiable and will be based on your background, expertise, and the nature of the support provided. Sessions can be in one or several subjects and scheduled around mutual availability.
